The CAC 40 fell 0.7% to 7,377 on Thursday, marking its third consecutive session of losses and remaining at a seven-week low, as traders remained focused on key economic data releases and corporate earnings results. In France, preliminary estimates showed that annual consumer inflation inched up to 1.2% in October 2024, compared to market forecasts and the prior month’s 1.1%. Meanwhile, producer prices continued to fall, marking the tenth consecutive month of deflation, with a 7% year-on-year decrease in September, following a 6.3% drop the previous month. On the corporate front, BNP Paribas shares slumped 6.1% to a three-week low despite posting higher Q3 net income and revenue. TotalEnergies also dropped, with shares down 2.8% to its lowest level since February after reporting lower Q3 net income and sales. In contrast, Societe Generale shares surged 8.3%, hitting its highest level since June, after exceeding Q3 earnings expectations.
