This marked the 13th consecutive month of increasing outbound shipments but the softest growth since March and below market forecasts of a 6.9% rise. Notably, in 2023, outbound shipments dropped by 7.4%.

Sales grew 4.6% year-on-year to USD 57.5 billion, the 13th consecutive month of expansion, but the softest pace in seven months, and below forecasts of a 6.9% gain, supported by robust semiconductor demand. Meanwhile, imports increased 1.7% from a year earlier to USD 54.3 billion, the fourth straight month of increase, but the softest pace in sequence, easing from a 2.2% rise in September, and softer than estimates of a 2.9% growth.
