All three major indices were around 0.3% down. Risk sentiment in global markets was hampered by President Trump signaling escalation against Israel by downplaying a ceasefire deal and warning Tehran residents to evacuate. In the meantime, retail sales contracted more than expected in May to suggest that tariffs may be having a growing impact in the economy, as another report showed that import prices net of levies were unchanged. On corporate news, T-Mobile shares lost 4% after Softbank sold a portion of its shares to reallocate funds toward AI strategies. On the other hand, ExxonMobil and Chevron were higher as crude oil prices swung upwards. Also, Verve Therapeutics stock soared 75% to $10.9 after Eli Lilly announced it will buy the company for $10.5 a share.
