Frankfurt's DAX bounced back from early losses to trade slightly higher near 24,150 on Wednesday afternoon, with investors eyeing a possible tariff agreement more favorable than the terms announced in recent days. EU Trade Commissioner Maros Sefcovic heads to Washington today for a new round of talks on the 30% tariff imposed by President Trump. If negotiations fail, the EU is ready with countermeasures targeting $72.1 billion in U.S. imports, including whiskey, Boeing aircraft and parts, beef, and auto components. Meanwhile, Trump renewed his threat to extend tariffs to pharmaceuticals and semiconductors, possibly as soon as August 1—the deadline for implementing his 'reciprocal' tax policy. Some disappointing corporate results from European companies also tempered market sentiment. Among single stocks, top gainers included Munchener Ruck, Deutsche Bank, Deutsche Telekom and Allianz, adding between 1.2% and 1.8%.
