In the US, the USDA’s 2025–26 corn estimate of 15.82?billion bushels at 181?bu/acre, the largest on record, alongside renewed rains and warmer temperatures in the Eastern Corn Belt has cemented expectations of a bumper yield. At the same time, Black Sea exporters are poised to ship about 46?Mt in 2025–26, up nearly 40% year-on-year thanks to expanded acreage and favourable planting conditions in Ukraine, Romania and Bulgaria—creating a deep US$/mt discount on new-crop offers and stifling forward buying. In Brazil, Conab’s upward revision of the 2024/25 harvest to 128.25?Mt, including a second crop of 101?Mt (the second-largest on record), further bolsters global surplus projections and adds downward pressure on prices.

The Baltic Exchange's dry bulk sea freight index, which tracks rates for vessels transporting dry commodities, fell about 1.2% to 1,952 points on Tuesday, after a 0.4% rise in the prior day, pressured by the larger vessel segments. The capesize index, which typically transports 150,000-ton cargoes such as iron ore and coal, dropped by 1.9% to 3,660 points; and the panamax index, which usually carries 60,000-70,000 tons of coal or grain, fell 0.3% to 1,406 points. Conversely, the smaller supramax index rose 6 points to a near two-week high of 945 points.
