The annual producer inflation rate in Greece slowed to 1.6% in June 2025 from 2% in the previous month. Prices moderated for energy (2.9% vs 3% in May), intermediate goods (2% vs 2.2%), and non-durable consumer goods (0.6% vs 0%). On the other hand, costs accelerated for both capital goods (3.1% vs 2.9%), and durable consumer goods (4.7% vs 4.1%). On a monthly basis, producer prices rose 1.1% in June 2025, rebounding from a 2.9% fall in the preceding month.

Total credit extended to the Greek economy increased by 6.8% from the previous year in June 2024, the least in four months, slightly easing from the 6.9% rise in May. Credit to the private sector decreased to 10.2% from 11.3% in the previous month. Meanwhile, credit to the general government increased to 1.2% from 0.2%.

Greece’s current account recorded a surplus of €0.20 billion in May 2025, reversing a deficit of €2.32 billion in the same month last year. This marked the country’s first monthly surplus in three months. The services surplus widened to €2.21 billion from €1.88 billion in May 2024, supported by robust tourism and transport revenues. At the same time, the secondary income turned positive, posting a surplus of €0.52 billion from €0.22 billion a year earlier. Meanwhile, the goods account deficit narrowed significantly to €2.36 billion from €3.45 billion, while the primary income shortfall decreased to €0.17 billion from €0.51 billion. On a cumulative basis, the current account deficit shrank to €6.43 billion, compared with €8.58 billion in the corresponding period of the previous year.
