The S&P Global Egypt PMI rose to 49.5 in July 2025 from 48.8 in June, indicating a softer contraction in the non-oil private sector and marking the joint-highest reading in five months. Although output and new orders continued to decline, the rates of contraction eased, with some firms noting improved demand, particularly in the services sector. In response, employment increased for the first time since October, supported by a rise in outstanding work. At the same time, purchasing activity declined again, though the pace of reduction slowed, while stock levels remained broadly stable amid steady supply chain conditions. Meanwhile, input prices rose at a slightly quicker pace, driven by higher costs for fuel, cement, packaging, and wages, though inflation stayed below the long-run average. Selling prices rose for the third straight month but only modestly. Looking ahead, sentiment remained weak amid ongoing economic uncertainty, though optimism ticked up slightly from June’s record low.
