Turkey’s trade deficit widened to USD 7.4 billion in October 2025 from USD 5.9 billion in the same month a year earlier, according to preliminary data from the Trade Ministry. This marked the largest trade gap in four months, as imports rose 6.6% year-on-year to USD 31.4 billion, driven by higher purchases of intermediate goods (+6.5%) and capital goods (+20.2%). China (USD 4.0 billion) remained the top import source, followed by Russia (USD 3.5 billion) and Germany (USD 2.3 billion). Meanwhile, exports grew at a slower pace of 2.3% to USD 24.0 billion, supported by increased sales of intermediate goods (+3.9%) and capital goods (+20.5%). Top export destinations included Germany (USD 2.0 billion), the US (USD 1.43 billion), and the UK (USD 1.4 billion). From January to October 2025, the trade deficit widened to USD 74.4 billion, compared with USD 65.9 billion in the same period last year.
