Estonia’s trade deficit narrowed to EUR 332 million in April 2025 from EUR 345 million in the same month of the previous year, as exports rose more than imports. Year-on-year, exports advanced by 3% to EUR 1,563 million, driven by higher shipments to EU countries (8%), despite a decline to non-EU countries (-10%). Among commodities, notable increases were seen in transport equipment (24%), agricultural products and food preparations (15%), and miscellaneous manufactured articles (9%). Meanwhile, imports grew at a softer 1% to EUR 1,895 million, with increased purchases from non-EU countries (16%), while lower inbound shipments from EU countries (-1%). Arrivals went up for paper and articles (24%), transport equipment (17%), and articles of plastics and rubber (14%). Considering the January to April period, the country recorded a EUR 1,182 million trade shortfall, widening from a EUR 1,099 million gap in the corresponding period a year earlier.
