The CAC 40 index fell 0.8% to close at 7,683 on Tuesday, reversing the previous session’s gains amid escalating Middle East tensions. On the fifth day of the war between Iran and Israel, the US boosted military presence and urged diplomacy, with Trump calling for Tehran's evacuation and immediate nuclear talks .Iran signaled willingness but conditioned dialogue on Israel halting attacks. Israel maintains military pressure, targeting nuclear sites and Revolutionary Guard bases. In addition, Trump's early departure from the G7 summit, claiming to have “nothing to do” with the ceasefire negotiations, has increased international uncertainty. The conflict reignited oil supply fears, raising prices, pressuring inflation expectations, and weakening risk appetite. Now, the markets await the decisions of the central banks, with the Fed and BoE likely to hold rates after the BOJ stood still. Corporate losses were broad, led by Kering (-4.1%), SocGen (-3.9%), and Publicis (-2.2%).
