Heating oil futures climbed toward $2.48 per gallon, the highest since mid-February, as surging crude-oil feedstock costs amid the Iran–Israel flare-up drove input expenses sharply higher. US Gulf Coast refiners are paying steep premiums for light-sweet crudes following renewed strikes near Tehran and President Trump’s evacuation order, compressing distillate margins. At the same time, distillate inventories have fallen to multi-year lows, US heating-oil stocks hit their lowest seasonal level since 2014, even as refineries run near capacity to satisfy robust diesel and marine-fuel demand. Meanwhile tanker freight and insurance premiums have surged on Gulf war-risk fears, further lifting delivered costs. On the demand side, strong North American diesel consumption and a rebound in European industrial activity, despite mild spring weather, have absorbed the limited distillate supply, keeping heating-oil prices firmly elevated.
